Memory: Hello Goodbye

In winter 1967 I was in my second year at Essex University. I lived in a six bedroom house in Frinton-on-Sea with five fellow students. The weekly rent was £5 (between six!). You could see off-shore Radio Caroline from the balcony. On Friday November 24 1967 we had a party, inviting far too many people. Earlier that day I had gone out and bought the Beatles' new single, released that day. It was "Hello Goodbye" and was played continuously at the party. The only other track I remember getting an airing was "I Am The Walrus", which of course was on the B side. Whenever I hear these tracks it takes me back to that party over 40 years ago ...............
